The Family Crisis Child Advocacy Center is now accepting resumes for a Family Advocate. The purpose of this position is to assist victims of child abuse and their families in a multidisciplinary response, advocacy and support to reduce trauma and hold perpetrators accountable while creating a safer community through awareness, education, and prevention. This position is full time with typical hours being Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm with some varied hours as needed. This position is based in our Great Bend office with some travel required to out of town trainings. This position also requires you to be able to pass a background check as well as a drug test. A. Responsible for providing initial and follow-up contact with the child and non-offending caregiver of children seen at the CAC. B. Responsible for conducting forensic interviews with child abuse victims. C. Responsible for creating a culture of empowerment and trauma-informed service delivery. D. Responsible to provide appropriate information regarding crime victim’s compensation and victim rights to victims being served. E. Responsible for providing support and information to parents of scheduled forensic interviews. F. Responsible to maintain a working knowledge of resources and services available in the communities served to assist survivors. G. Responsible to network with medical professionals, court officers, school personnel, law enforcement, clergy and other professionals to encourage referrals. H. Responsible for publicizing available services, educate referral sources and increase service utilization within communities served. I. Responsible for follow-up contact child/non/offending caregiver offering emotional support, information, referrals to support family safety, and monitor interactions between family and service providers. J. Responsible to assist in creating a positive cultural environment of personal leadership, communications and teamwork within the shelter and throughout the agency. K. Responsible to assist with Outcomes Measurement System for families of children interviewed by the center. L. Responsible to provide information to victims regarding crime victim compensation and victim rights. M. To assist victims in seeking available compensation benefits. N. Responsible to provide waiting room supervision for interviews with multiple children. O. Responsible for conducting forensic interviews with child abuse victims. P. Responsible to attend scheduled case review sessions and post interview meeting when necessary, being a voice for the child and non-offending caregiver. Q. Assist with any other duties and attend meetings as requested by the Program Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, or Experience
Qualifications/Skills include: High school degree or GED equivalent required. Higher education/training preferred. Experience in child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault field, or other human services related fields is suggested.
