DIRECTOR OF NURSING

JOB SUMMARY Within the framework of the objectives and policies established by the organization, plans and coordinates nursing services with medical and administrative systems. Participates as a member of the hospital’s management team in planning, policy formulation, and administrative decision making with particular reference to the role, functions, and operations of the hospital’s nursing services. In summary, this position is responsible for nursing personnel providing patient care.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, or Experience

The Director of Nursing must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing and hold a current Kansas license as a Registered Nurse, in addition to documented nursing experience with a minimum of two years of management responsibilities. A Baccalaureate Degree is required or must have a plan for completion of the same. The incumbent must have effective skills in management and leadership, effective verbal and written skills, and effective skills in integrating nursing services and programs with all hospital services.
