Job Summary: Under the direction of the Park Supervisor, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the general care and maintenance of City park facilities. This position is FLSA non-exempt. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Park Supervisor, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the general care and maintenance of City park facilities. A. Mows, trims, and irrigates park grounds. B. Fertilizes and seeds park areas as needed. C. Irrigates, trims, maintains, and removes trees in park areas as necessary. D. Assists in the repair of park buildings, structures, and various park equipment. E. Assists in painting, performing minor plumbing jobs, minor irrigation system repairs, welding, etc. F. Forms and pours concrete. G. Uses a variety of hand and power tools. H. Responds to after-hours emergencies. I. Paints and repairs tables, benches, and other park equipment. J. Helps collect trash and clean and service restrooms. K. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Qualifications: A. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. B. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with governing body, city administrators, department heads, employees and the public. C. Ability to use sound judgment and common sense, think logically, and make appropriate decisions. D. Follows all necessary safety guidelines in the operation of equipment. E. Ability to maintain and make minor repairs to equipment. F. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. G. Ability to operate and maintain some heavy equipment, trucks, mowers, trimmers, etc. H. Knowledge of chemical applications to park grounds and irrigation systems. I. Valid Kansas driver’s license required. Education/Experience: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of experience in construction, maintenance work, and general grounds maintenance is preferred. Working Conditions: Work is primarily outside. Work is occasionally heavy and may involve physical activity such as lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, and involves handling, seeing, hearing, listening, and talking. May involve after-hour calls and exposure to noise, noxious odors, gases, poor ventilation, and exposure to extreme weather conditions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, or Experience

Education/Experience: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of experience in construction, maintenance work, and general grounds maintenance is preferred.
